BCSL and GPV Lanka Continue Mangrove Restoration Efforts
The Bio Conservation Society of Sri Lanka (BCSL) continues its mangrove restoration efforts at Kandakuliya Lagoon, Kalpitiya, with the valued support of GPV Lanka (Pvt) Ltd since 2022. The programme focuses on restoring coastal ecosystems, strengthening biodiversity, and building climate resilience in one of Sri Lanka’s important lagoon environments.
Mangroves play a vital role in climate action by storing carbon, protecting shorelines, supporting marine life, and contributing to the livelihoods of coastal communities. Through this ongoing collaboration, BCSL provides technical guidance and conservation expertise, while GPV Lanka contributes through annual participation and support for planting and maintenance activities across the restoration site.
GPV Lanka’s Continued Contribution
In March 2026, GPV Lanka employees joined the latest mangrove planting activity at Kandakuliya Lagoon, further strengthening the company’s long-term engagement with the programme. Over multiple years of implementation, the project has grown from a small-scale initiative into a sustained restoration effort, contributing to the planting of thousands of mangrove saplings across a growing coastal stretch in Kandakuliya. Earlier phases have already resulted in visible mangrove growing sites, demonstrating tangible environmental impact and the benefits of continuous stewardship.
GPV Lanka’s involvement reflects how corporate partnerships can contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation while also supporting broader sustainability priorities, including climate action, biodiversity protection, employee engagement, and responsible environmental management.
